This website has some great photographs that show how graphics can be used to create or remove space. As well as creating optical illusions, which really just messes with your spacial awareness. These photos (as well as being in rooms like this) make you feel obscure. Most things in nature or common architecture all look somewhat similar, but these shapes and optical patterns cause the brain to perceive the world differently, which can make one feel bizarre.
